FOOTBALL
Any pre-match superstitions?
Before each game I always drink a can of Red Bull – half before the warm up and half after.
What do you eat before a game?
If we’re playing an evening game, Nicola Thowig and I often go out for lunch beforehand. If it’s a lunchtime or afternoon kick-off, it’s usually cereal and toast then a banana on the way – it’s important to get enough food in before the match.
Who is your favourite ever football player?
My favourite football player is Michael Essien, but I am also a fan of Nigel De Jong.
Who has had the biggest influence on your career?
My brother has always inspired and supported me, but generally I think that it’s always important to push yourself to achieve the most that you possibly can.
How old were you when you started playing football?
I started playing competitive football when I was around 16 years old, but before that I always loved football and I’d play in the park with my brother from around the age of 12.
What has been your career highlight so far?
Definitely playing for England u23s and scoring a goal against Germany. Another personal achievement of mine is making it to the FA cup semi-final when I was playing for Blackburn Rovers and playing in the first ever WSL season.
What’s your favourite and least favourite part of training?
My favourite aspect of training is when we play games because that’s what I love to do. My least favourite part is the fitness because it’s always challenging.
Are you good at any other sports?
In my spare time I really enjoy playing badminton and table tennis.
