LADIES LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING RUN

Squad v Lincoln

Liverpool take on Chelsea at home this Sunday

Liverpool Ladies take on Chelsea this weekend as they look to secure back-to-back Women’s Super League (WSL) wins.

Liverpool Ladies take on their southern rivals on Sunday in the first game at their Skelmersdale United home ground since early May.

The Reds are in confident mood after recording their first league win of the season away at Doncaster last Saturday. Liverpool moved off the bottom of the table after Lynda Shepherd and Katie Brusell scored with two excellent long-range strikes.

Liverpool captain Vicky Jones said: “The entire squad’s been in a great mood this week after our win last weekend - it certainly had been a long time coming.

“We played really well together as a team against Doncaster, backed each other up and looked more assured and that’s what we’ll continue to do against Chelsea on Sunday. As a defender, what was even more pleasing for me was the clean sheet - it’s what you strive for in every game.

“This will be our last home game before the WSL mid-season break so we hope that as many supporters come down to Skelmersdale and cheer us on to three points and hopefully another clean sheet.”

Tickets are priced at £4.50 adults and free entry for children aged 16 and under. Tickets are available on the turnstile on the day.

Liverpool Ladies v Chelsea Ladies takes place on Sunday 1 July 2012. Kick-off is at 2pm at Skelmersdale United.
