Liverpool Ladies continue to strengthen their squad with the addition of 21 year old England U23 international defender Lucy Bronze and 20 year old German U20 international midfielder Nicole Rolser.
Nicole was part of Germany’s U19 European Championship winning side of 2011 and Germany’s U20 word cup runners-up side of 2012. Nicole has previously played for German sides Bad Neuenahr and Vfl Sindelfingen.
Lucy has gained England caps at all levels from U17 to U23 and featured in England’s U19 European championship winning side of 2009. Lucy was awarded player of the match in the FA women’s Cup final of 2009 in Sunderland’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. Previous English clubs include Blyth Town, Sunderland and Everton. Lucy played in the US over the summer of 2009 where she became the first British player to win an NCAA Cup.
Nicole said: “I’m looking forward to a new challenge both personally and within football in a new country. Liverpool Ladies FC has a very professional setup. I’m sure it is possible for Liverpool to build for a long period of success.”
Lucy added: “After much deliberation about my future, I decided to join Liverpool Ladies as a fresh start and a new challenge. I’m looking forward to joining Whitney Engen, an old team mate of mine. She is someone I know I can learn a lot from and someone I look up to as a player.”
Manager Matt Beard commented: “I’m delighted that Lucy has decided to sign for Liverpool. Lucy is one of the best young defenders in England, she can play anywhere in the back four and was one of Everton’s most consistent performers last season. Lucy is an U23 England international and I’m confident that she will be in the senior squad before too long. We are building a strong squad and our defence is starting to take shape and will offer good competition for places.
“Nicole is a fantastic singing for not only Liverpool LFC but for The FA WSL. She is a quick and tricky winger who can player either right or left. She is a German youth international who has won the European Championships and been a World Cup runner up, she will bring flair and pace to our side and I for one can’t wait to work with her.”
